Helping your whole family with the REID food lifestyle.

Whole foods | Gluten-free | Dairy-free | Soy-free | Corn-free | Additive-free

I always enjoyed art class more than science class. Then, as a mom, I found myself learning about neurotransmitters and inflammation to help my youngest daughter with her medical needs. Speaking only for her situation, one tool in our toolbox that helped with her symptoms was a certain diet: the Reduced Excitatory Inflammatory Diet (REID).

Less of a diet and more of a food lifestyle, REID recognizes that every gut is different, even within families. Getting a picky kiddo on board with this lifestyle (as well as other family members already used to a certain menu) required more of my creative side. A foundational component of REID is flexibility, and when I was just starting out, being able to pivot from a recipe seemed overwhelming! So, I took steps, and I took a lot of notes. While I may not be able to help with the science, I can share my notes - along with the help of my oldest daughter who can brilliantly bring Brevi, Fenn, and Molly to life.

I absolutely know your situation is different than mine, but I hope this website can be a resource to help you and your family with food ideas and tips for practical implementation.

This site will not focus on the why REID, but strives to help with the how.

If you're here, we're assuming you're familiar with REID and are just looking for ideas to help incorporate this way of eating into your daily lifestyle.

If you're less familiar with the basics, I invite you to check out Molly's Reccommendations page, which includes resources from the creator, Dr. Katherine Reid, PhD (no affiliation). Neither myself or our illustrator have any medical training. Please see the Giant Disclaimer in the footer.

Usually referred to as the REID Food Pyramid, its intent is that of most food pyramids - to explain how we build our plate. Again, our focus is not "why REID," but understanding this will help as you consider substitutions for recipes.

Why a volcano? Brevi thought it better suited the true structure of REID. So take a journey with Fenn as he learns about all the biomes while venturing to the exploding top!
